I spent three decades building big, global brands and leading teams in Consumer Packaged Goods - CEO, board seats, high-stakes decisions, all of it.

I've also stood in a round pen with a 1,200-pound horse who didn't care about any of it. That contrast changed how I think about leadership.

But the moment that changed me most didn't happen in an office. It happened with a horse who couldn't care less about my resume or title.

Horses don't respond to the version of you that's convenient. Only the one that's real. That's where the growth begins.
